Nestling between the Wye Valley, the Vale of Leadon and the Severn Vale, the Royal Forest of Dean is one of England’s few remaining ancient forests, covering 27,000 acres of woodland. Designated as a National Forest Park in 1938, this ’Queen of Forests’ boasts a spectacular range of natural beauty combined with an aura of magic and mystery that has been the inspiration for many great artists and writers including Dennis Potter, JRR Tolkien and JK Rowling

One of the main tasks of the Forest Conservators who manage the area is to prevent trees from taking over the heathland. Without this management, the heathland would disappear very quickly, and with it much of the Forest’s wildlife, interest and, of course, views. Grazing by livestock, traditionally an important economic activity in the Forest, is a very effective long-term method of controlling tree growth. In the grazed area of the Forest, please keep your dog under close control: remember that land managers have the right to shoot any dogs found molesting livestock. Please comply with the 40mph signs on Forest roads and slow down for animals and people.

Glen-Forest Tourist Park is set in very picturesque surroundings just 15 minutes drive from Port Lincoln, South Australia. With many attractions to suit all ages it is the ideal location for family picnics, birthday parties, social clubs, school excursions and bus tours. Glen-Forest Tourist Park is a 400 acre farm, with 70 acres dedicated to the animal park. 60 acres of Vineyard also exists on the property, varieties grown are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. This family operated Tourist park provides a casual atmosphere where visitors are invited to wander at leisure, stopping to feed the variety of animals and birds. There are baby animals for the children to feed and cuddle. Fed by natural springs and creeks all year round, the dams are home to prolific water birds.

It is located near to Sangeh village; the renowned 6 hectares of Bali Sangeh Monkey Forest are filled with giant nutmeg trees capable of growing as high as 40m. Sangeh Monkey Forest near the village of Sangeh, in southwestern Bali, has six hectares of forestland with giant nutmeg trees. The main attractions here are the hordes of funny yet wise Balinese monkeys inhabiting both the trees and the temple, Pura Bukit Sari, found in the heart of the forest. The monkeys of the forest are believed to be sacred and indeed will approach anyone paying respects at the temple. But visitors should be aware that these monkeys are attracted to shiny objects, so cameras and jeweler should be left behind or kept well hidden under clothes or in a bag when exploring Sangeh Bali.
