We start off with a tour of Kibbutz Malkiya, founded in 1949 by veterans of the War of Independence. Family groups and youth groups often visit our PETTING ZOO, run by and for the kibbutz children. Most groups then decide to visit an adjacent ARMY BASE, an opportunity to talk to young male and female soldiers, and a basis for understanding recent developments in South Lebanon. We then view Malkiya's "Good Fence" border crossing, through which Lebanese workers came to work in Israel each morning. We still see an agricultural extension center, which had been run by the Israeli Department of Agriculture for the farmers of South Lebanon.
Evening groups return to the kibbutz for 'coffee and cake' with a kibbutz family. The visitors can have dinner together with the 'host families', and quite often stay overnight in our comfortable GUEST ROOMS. Luncheon is also served. Our gift shop features ORDA EDUCATIONAL GAMES and kibbutz-made handicrafts.
