Backpacker Tourism
Backpacker Tourism is a term used to denote a form of low-cost independent international travel, differentiating it from other forms of tourism notably by the following typical attributes: minimal budget use, longer duration traveling, use of public transport and multiple destinations/countries. The origin of the name comes from the backpacks that budget travelers generally carry in the interests of mobility and flexibility.

Can you hear that? It’s the roar of the ocean waves; a 4WD grinding its way through the outback; the mystical sounds of twilight in the desert and a cacophony of birdsong in the rainforest. It’s the call of the wild, all the way from Australia.
Obviously if you’ve arrived at our website, you’re ready to pack your bags and hit the road. You’ve had enough of studying, the 9-5 grind and city smog. The promise of wide, open spaces, and new friends in exotic places awaits you.

LONELY PLANET: 'the party never stops at the friendly Euro Youth Hotel, where Euro & non-Euro youths alike work on international relationships in the bar and lounge.'
Quiet side street location, 100 m from main station, 2 mins from old town. Best beer in Munich, 3 hr happy hour and lots of free extras!

The Backpacker Network was first launched in 1999 and has grown into one of the most comprehensive backpacking resources on the web. Made famous by the legendry beer and bar indexes we have recently expanded the site to include hundreds of travel guides for everywhere from Bangkok to Dublin.
We've also added tons of interactivity so all our visitors can share there experiences and tips with each other. You can submit travel stories, travel experiences, recommend beers, bars, cheap eats and more. In fact you can comment and suggest things on just about every area of the site.

People all over the world from very different backgrounds, regardless of age, find backpacking a fun, rewarding and life changing experience. Most consider their first experience backpacking as being like birth into the world.
Without constraints or firm schedules, backpackers are completely free. With only your pack on your back, there are no limits to what you can do or see. Experiencing different cultures, overcoming language barriers, and making new friends (locals and other travelers) are all part of the adventure.
Backpacking across Europe can be confusing, exhausting and possible dangerous. Therefore, preparations need to be made. However, no matter how much you plan for your travels, adjustments will need to be made. Therefore, you should plan for these adjustments and set backup plans when possible. This web site is provided as a guide for those planning to set out on the adventure of a lifetime.

To many not in the know, New Zealand calls to mind kiwi fruit and sheep. Perhaps its the location, perhaps its because New Zealand rarely finds its way into the international media but with its green lands, blue seas, snow capped mountains, pristine lakes and singing birds it remains an idyllic holiday destination.
There are few places in the world which can offer so much variety within such a short distance. This is a country, where in the space of a week, you can snowboard or ski in the Southern Alps, horse trek along the beach, swim with dolphins, watch whales, climb a volcano, hike through a rainforest, sail the high seas and savour a lamb rack like no other. To anyone who enjoys the great outdoors, it's simply paradise.
