The Rockglen District is your gateway to discovering the natural treasures of South Central Saskatchewan.
Nestled in the hills of the Wood Mountain Uplands, it's an area where nature enthusiasts can easily appreciate the forces of nature that shaped this land and enjoy breathtaking scenery reminiscent of the times before cowboys rode the range.
One of only four unglaciated areas in North America, it allows naturalists, geologists and paleontologists rare opportunities to study their crafts and Saskatchewanderers to appreciate the wild beauty of their Province.
As you wander through the Effie Mattson Nature Park, walk up Columbus or drive up the South or West Hills, see the country from a geologic perspective. Look up the valley and picture the ancient inland sea that covered the town and washed the clay cliffs, leaving the u-shaped bottom land. Imagine a brontosaurus herd grazing in the lush tropical greenery of the lowlands ... and Re-Discover Rockglen from a whole new point of view. Check out a poem written by a former resident of Rockglen. It really makes you want to climb Columbus.
Check out a Video of Rockglen And Area by going to www.youtube.com and type Rockglen in the search area. If you like the video let your friends know about it. Also give us your feedback on the video.

STEC works with tourism operators, managers, employees, and educators/consultants across the province. Our mandate is to develop a professional tourism workforce in Saskatchewan.
Industry Driven
STEC is industry driven. Since 1990, we have worked with literally thousands of industry professionals in every sector, front line staff to managers and owners. In 1996, STEC merged with the Saskatchewan Tourism Authority and the Tourism Industry Association of Saskatchewan (TISASK) to create Tourism Saskatchewan.
STEC is non-government and industry-driven. We receive some funding from government, but it is the tourism industry that determines the programs and services we offer. STEC promotes, coordinates and evaluates industry managed standards, certification, career awareness and training in the five tourism industries:
Accommodation
Food and Beverage
Recreation & Entertainment
Transportation
Travel Services
Thanks to the ongoing involvement of the tourism industry - and that includes tourism businesses, provincial associations, education/training providers and government - STEC has grown into one of the most active, full service tourism education councils in Canada.
Regional Leader
STEC is a founding member of the Tourism Standards Consortium (TSC), a partnership of the tourism human resource councils in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Yukon, as well as provincial/territorial governments and federal government. The TSC was formed in 1991 to develop standards and certification that were recognized throughout Western Canada.
National Representation
STEC is on the Board of the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC), a national network of tourism human resource councils that work together to establish, implement and deliver national occupational standards, training and professional certification. Nationally recognized programs have been developed for over 30 tourism occupations. STEC delivers CTHRC-sponsored programs and products in Saskatchewan
My favourite fish to catch in Northern Saskatchewan is:
Walleye
Northern pike
Lake trout
Arctic grayling
Burbot
