The Strip - Las Vegas Boulevard - shines most brilliantly at night.
Magnificent hotels glow green and gold. Pink, red, yellow, blue and white neon pulsates all around. Electric lights flash. Music plays. Volcanoes erupt. Fountains soar. Cars create two moving streams of light, red and white. People in the thousands walk up, down and over the Strip. Roller coasters corkscrew high above the ground. A laser beam, visible from space, penetrates the night sky, inviting the whole universe to come and play.
And that's only outside - step into any of the iconic casino
Vegas past and Vegas future live side by side downtown, where the Fremont Street Experience, a spectacular $70-million canopy of light and sound, envelopes the historic hotels and casinos along four blocks of Fremont Street. Like most things Vegas, downtown shows best at night, when the Fremont Street Experience lights up and street performers entertain the crowds.
Downtown is where you'll find the brighter-than-day white lights of Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel. Or the Golden Nugget, where casino mogul Steve Wynn founded an empire. Or the venerable Golden Gate, Vegas' first hotel, built in 1906, which is still pulling them in from Fremont Street.
Whether your tastes are traditional - spectacular showgirl revues or talented lounge crooners - or more contemporary, you'll find something that will amaze and delight you.
Entertainment highlights:
Celine Dion leads the list of international mega-stars who now call Vegas home, headlining at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Cirque du Soleil is a Vegas institution, with four astonishing, beautiful shows currently in production: "KA" recently opened at the MGM Grand, and does for fire what "O" does for water at Bellagio; "Mystère" at Treasure Island (TI) started it all in 1993; "Zumanity" at New York-New York explores the world of erotica.
Broadway hits find their way to Vegas too - "Mamma Mia!" at Mandalay Bay rocks to the music of Swedish '70s super-group ABBA.
Thanks to the wide variety of concert halls and performance spaces, Vegas is a regular tour stop for many of the world's leading acts. Check those listings!
Donn Arden's "Jubilee!" (Bally's) and the "Folies Bergere" (Tropicana) define the classic Vegas showgirl revue.
Classic Vegas Shows
Showgirl Revues
Showgirl revues, including adult (topless) revues, range from the traditional to the modern to the avant-garde.
Magic
From Penn & Teller to Lance Burton, some of the greatest magicians in the business can be found in Vegas.
Comedy
Funnymen and women have been busting guts in Vegas for decades.
Hypnosis
Audience members become performers under the spell of always-popular hypnotists. Make it a night you can't remember.
Tribute Performers
There's more to see than just Elvis impersonators - the Rat Pack and a host of today's favorites are regularly paid tribute on Vegas stages.

14,000+ acres of boarding. That's more area than 10,000 football fields.
548 runs. If you tried one run each day, it would take more than 1 1/2 years of nonstop boarding to finish.
65 lifts. That's enough to move 72,000 people an hour. At that rate, it would take only about 13 hours to give the entire population of Montana a chairlift ride.
